Matewan steps up to 12f to win at Beverley under Paddy Mathers

The progressive Matewan stepped up to 12f to back up his Newmarket win last month with victory at Beverley under Paddy Mathers.

Victory seemed unlikely in the run, but in the final 50 yards, he stuck his head down and got home by a short head.

Matewan is a progressive young stayer and from his current mark, he could win again this autumn.
